Evangelising
Evangelise and disciple the Chinese Diaspora in the UK and Europe:
In this era of global migration, more and more Chinese are coming to the UK and Europe to study, work, and settle down.
Chinese students
Chinese students are flocking to universities in the UK and Europe at record levels.
Wanting to experience a new culture, these young people tend to be more open minded and receptive to the gospel. We reach out to Mandarin and Cantonese speaking students on university campuses through evangelistic events, fellowship groups, and personal evangelism.
Chinese immigrants
The arrival of new immigrants has changed the Chinese communities in the UK and Europe from Cantonese speaking with similar backgrounds to Mandarin or multi-dialect speaking with different cultural identities. We arrange itinerant workers to travel to different places to share the gospel with those who are less reached. We send long-term missionaries to live among the Chinese immigrants and pioneer ministries to serve them.
Local language speaking ethnic Chinese
The local language speaking ethnic Chinese are the next generation who grow up in the UK and Europe and speak a language native to them but foreign to their parents. This is a diverse group as their parents could be from different cultural backgrounds and speak different dialects, while they could be born locally or immigrated during childhood. We reach out to them through age appropriate programmes including children’s, youth, and student ministries.
Equipping
Equipping believers to build up strong and healthy churches and to serve their communities:
Many Chinese churches in the UK and Europe are still in early development stage and must rely on outside resources to nurture believers to grow in Christ and equip them for the work of ministry.
Partner with local churches/fellowships
In partnership with Chinese churches and fellowships, we train believers to study and understand God’s Word, we help them to develop their spiritual gifts for serving their communities, we give them tools to reach out to people who have not heard the gospel.
Utilise the mission centre as a training base
We utilise the COCM Mission Centre as the primary base to create opportunities for believers to learn as well as to put what they have learned into practice. Through our training ministry, we want to equip local church leaders to be trainers in their local contexts, so that local churches would be built up.
Encouraging
Encouraging believers and churches to share the gospel both intra-culturally and
cross-culturally throughout the UK, Europe and beyond
God is creating a mission wave from “everywhere to everywhere” and from “everyone to everyone”. Chinese believers are presented with unprecedented opportunities to join in God’s work.
We desire to be a catalyst in encouraging and mobilising Chinse believers and churches to move out of their comfort zone and step into mission. We work with like-minded mission organisations and churches to help Chinese believers to develop greater awareness and cultivate a missional DNA through mission conferences and training courses.
We invite believers to spend time working alongside our missionaries by ways of short- term mission, volunteering, or internship so they might discover their missionary potential. We are training the next generation of missionaries out of the mission field we serve.
